Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Concussion vs. Migraine

I was swimming with my kids and have this ball, its filled with water so it suspends instead of floating. Making it a heavy ball. About the size of a kickball. My 11 yr old son was wanting to play catch. He threw the ball at my head. Nearly knocked me over and gave me an instant migraine. 


Is there a way to tell if its just another migraine or something more serious. (Drs here are a joke. Telling me to take more otc meds)

I've had concussions twice. The second time I had one, I thought I was doing ok. But I was driving, and all of a sudden I had to pull over because it almost felt like a blood pressure drop. Within seconds I got cold and clammy. I got tunnel vision and thought I was going to throw up. Not at all what I feel like with a migraine. My body just felt different. And it happened really all of a sudden.

I am waking up in the mornings feeling ok. But as the day goes on i end up with pain due to the weather. So i either need to move to the arctic or just keep popping pain meds

I don't know where you live, but if you've been affected by this heat wave, could that be it? My migraines transform in the summer due to the heat. Started happening about 3-4 years ago. I'm ok as soon as I wake up, but as the day goes on my entire head feels like it's going to explode. Like I can feel every blood vessel in my head pulsating so hard. It starts around June and doesn't stop until around the end of September. Every single year without fail. It's horrible and nothing helps it, so I just bear it until Fall rolls around.

I know everyone isn't as bad as me, but I wonder how many people are affected by the heat in some way, but don't realize it.

Heat is a definite trigger. We were experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rain followed by sunny high humidity periods. Its finally done storming and raining. Yesterday was nice out. But despite the cooler temps i still ended the day on meds to stop the pain.
Today isnt looking good either, i experienced the aura before i even got out of bed for the day.

It depends. If it's just a migraine it is probably just a migraine (sure JUST a migraine you can punch me Froggie83 :) )... if you are having memory problems or have any amnesia or slurred speech then it's probably a concussion and you need to seek immediate medical help and remember don't go to sleep because you could slip into a coma.

Headaches / migraines have been hitting me daily. I can no longer remember a day when my head didnt hurt. I have days where the pain is not as bad as others and days when the pain is nauseating and i can't function.
