Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
About 4 days ago I was suffering from a really bad headache that results in slight numbness of the right side of my face. I didn't think so much of is becuase as I said I have a really had headache. A day or so later it happend again but this time my headache was so light that I barely noticed it. It was never numb to the point that I couldn't feel it but it was scary nonetheless. Like many I am already: dizzy, off balance, joint pain, tingling, shooting pain and things of the like. I want to my doc on friday and she mentioned info about my face muscles, bell palsy and she faintly mentioned MS. As of saturday my tingling in my feet and hands have gotten worse and I even had some tingling in my tongue. I am really freaked out and worried and of course this hightens my already present anxiety. I hope I didn't ramble to long... lol. Any stories, links, personal details would be much appreciated. I'm not a doctor of course lol but it sounds to me like a complex migraine. I've had ALL of those symptoms at one time or another during my migraine attacks. Usually the left side of my face goes numb. The tingling in the tongue really freaked me out too. I was diagnosed in December with Confusional Migraines(which is a sub-type of complex migraine). With complex migraines my neurologist told me it's pretty common to get strange symptoms like that. He told me some of the symptoms can last for several DAYS. I've had an MRI, CT, and EEG, which all came back normal. I wouldn't be too concernced about MS unless you have a family history of it or you have had these symptoms before. Hope this helps :)

I dont get these but my youngest daughter does and even ended up in intensive care with the first one at age 14 when they hadnt worked it out. Called it a basal migraine and she was so out of it she still didnt recognise her brother 8 hours after hospital admission..... I also worked with a teacher who got this sort and would need about three days off to come right. Realise this doesnt offer any practical advice but it does tell you that not life threatening although highly inconvenient. My daughter has worked out her triggers and has little rituals etc which means she gets far less migraines thatn she did previously.

Tthank you. I didn't realize that as I progress my headaches might be changing.

I have had migraines where the left hand side of my face goes numb. My Nero dr said is was normal. It was a particularly bad migraine.
