Cervicogenic migraine

has anyone ever had one of these? I have had migraines since I was very young. Friday I was riding home with my husband and kids. I got a severe pain in my neck that went down the middle of my back. This cause a horrible migraine and of course the vomiting. Every time I moved my head I vomited again. I take relpax for migraines but nothing took it away. My husband ended up driving me to the er. Of course after phenergan and Toradol I slept most of Saturday. Today still have a sore neck and a migraine.  Never had this happen before.

Do you have a true cervicogenic headache, or a migraine that has associated neck pain? To have a true cervicogenic headache, you have to have a disorder of your spine...or a fracture, or a lesion of the spine.....and the headache is just secondary to that spinal disorder.

Regardless, I know the pain is real. I get a lot of pain in the base of my skull, my neck and my shoulders when I get really bad migraines. To touch those areas is so painful, it's tight and sore, just horrible. I just have to medicate myself, and use heat and ice like crazy.

I am not sure if it was a true Cervicogenic migraine that was what the er doctor diagnosed me with. I have not ever had that pain before. Sometimes I will get neck pain but this time the muscles in my neck and down my back were so tight. Every time I turned my head I started to vomit. Today my neck and back are still sore. The doctor suggested I see a cervical specialist. It was one of the most severe migraines I have had in awhile. I’m sure my anxiety didn’t help. My mother died of a brain aneurysm when she was 40. I remember her having a severe migraine. I have had several mri’s and they have never found anything but it’s always in my mind what if that’s happening to me.
