Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

I tried it. I did 3 rounds over 9 months. It did not help me.
It has saved my life! I was able to go back to work, and function somewhat.
Oh, I still take preventative meds (Topamax), and sometimes Fioricet and/or Maxalt. But, at least I'm not being hospitalized or on disability anymore.

Give it a chance. It reduced my pain and frequency.
I hope this helps. And good luck.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and explain about the Botox injections. The thought of a needle going in to my forehead and neck and head is terrifying to me but I will think about it. It is probably worth the temporary pain of the needle to get some relief from the Migraines. You are really brave. Have a beautiful day! :-)
The shots however for me are painful especially if I'm particularly tight that day (which I usually am, especially my neck muscles)
The neurologist said for me to use an over the pain numbing spray next time before to help. Has anyone else tried this? I think I'm going to.
For me, this is a last resort. We've tried everything else... I'm either allergic to everything or it doesn't work.
First, the shots were -insanely- painful, especially on my face, and I bled quite badly. My blood pressure, usually 120/84, must have been high, as I was nervous and stressed about the procedure. My neuro said he'd never seen anyone bleed like that before.
When it was finally over, I went home and then went to bed, in more pain than I've ever experienced. My migraine raged out of control for 7 days. I have returned to my pre-botox pain level, and am afraid.... 2-4 weeks, they said, for it to kick in... it's been 2. Nothing. My work is getting annoyed, and wanting my doctor to start talking about return-to-work, but I *can't* yet. I can't even think my way through a crossword puzzle!
So, I'm worried I'll lose my job. I mean, if I do, I do.... as long as we get my health in order... but I just never thought I'd be.... HERE.
