Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Also just a thought. There are I think 2 new medications used to treat acute migraines.. They are CGRP's, but not injectibles. Tablet form when you get a migraine, and I know at least one of them is supposed to last for up to 48 hours. I think you can be prescribed these through a telemed visit. ...I'm going to look up the names...
The first drug is called Ubrelvy. The second drug is called Nurtec. I would go on the website for each one of these drugs and just see what the requirements are for a prescription. Like I said, I know one advert said just a telemed visit, and right now I think most of those are covered.
I'm sorry you are going through this.
So i am not on any meds currently. when i called the nurses line to ask about the increase yesterday she told me to take a higher dose of ibuprofen. They already know i take the max dose of ibuprofen or tylenol when i get them. So i questioned that and she said i could take 800 mg ibuprofen or 1000 mg tylenol or to try excedrin migraine.. (The amounts i currently take and have little to no relief from)
I gave up on trying to get any dr to do anything about the tear in my hip which is a source of constant pain. That dr was a bigger joke!! (We talked about how physical therapy caused more pain and they recommended i try phys. therapy.. As if we didnt just talk about how i was still doing the exercises with more pain that without.) So now i have zero faith in any dr. And lack the money to start getting second opinions.
Do you take anything on a daily basis like magnesium or CoQ10? There are a few suppliments that headache specialists recommend we take. Those are just 2 which over time can help reduce the amount of migraines we get. There are a few others. I will look them up and get back to you with dosages.
This week has not been as bad. I wonder if it is linked to having to wear a mask. Because looking back thru my headache journal i started to get them more frequently when my states governor made wearing a face mask in public a requirement.
I will know after this week. School will be out for summer and i will only be wearing a mask one day a week.
