I heard voices too.. and yes it goes away.. just give it time..(for me 6-7 weeks clean).... no need for meds. for me, I realized that the voices were my concious... I was hearing it daily until I was able to gain peace within myself. I suggest you and your daughter go to a NA meeting.. it helps alot with your daughters recovery... Members of NA can answer alot of your questions and really help you and your daughter out onto the Road of recovery.

youre right, we will go to a meeting, shes got 4 wks sober now and time for her to DO something for her recovery.

how certain are you that she is sober?

I have to take medication for my voices...I perm have them and now have to be medicated in order for me to stay clean. Every person is different and there withdrawels are different. Good luck on the psych apt.

she used again on Christmas evening, didnt come home for gifts, im very sad, she wont go to treatment, at least not now. Do I just wait til her pysch appt.? I feel so helpless.

Despite what the doctors say, methamphetamine is a sin that brings evil spirits into our lives. My advice 1) stop meth 2) medication does help 3) quit cigarettes, this will lower the volume of the voices as well - if she smokes. Good luck!

she had another 3 wks, went back to hubby and used again, what is it going to take for her stop!? Im a wreck.( im her mom), my hubby says she cant come back, im afraid that she will end up dead if she lives with her hubby who is using daily. She has pysch,. appt on friday, she missed the last one( what a suprise), she thinks they are going to lock her up, I said they arent in to that, they will reccomend treatment, but cant make her go.

Oh honey...I read your post and my heart is hurting for you. God help me for having ever done this to my own mother, may she rest in peace. Sometimes I still think mine and my sisters meth addiction killed her.
I am so sorry your daughter keeps relapsing. I don't know when she will realize that it is time to walk away to salvage her life and future and family relationships. I know you are a wreck as her mother but you will have to try to exercise some tough love on her I suspect. Quit being there for her to fall back on. I know how scary it is...your naturally afraid she will end up dead but being there for her to fall back on repeatedly is only going to enable her. She has a safe place to go every time she gets scared or needs something or whatever the case may be. She will never know what rock bottom feels like until she wants a way out and realizes she is going to have to do the work herself in order to get one, and that is just the honest truth first hand from somebody who struggled for 6 years with a meth problem. You need to stop being a codependent and let her crash on her own. I am a firm believer in tough love and have been clean and sober for many years.

When we hit bottom we have the best chance of a longterm recovery if handled correctly.

I know that it is easier said than done.

It is a long drawn out process...I just spent 22,000 to send my daugher to rehab.. She is already back on drugs...It is only money..My problem is she wont leave me alone..she keeps showing up...Geez if you want to throw your life away so be it..Just leave me alone...and there she is again.. I have been on both sides of the coin and yes when you are an addict you put your parents through hell..Sad and not fair.. and I do believe the stress that an addict brings on a parent is deadly... Save yourself and detach.. you have to or you will die right along side of her slowly..If there are grandchildren save them.

I would think that it could be meth psychosis. But that usually resolves itself after the first good nights sleep after the last use of meth. At least it did for me when i used the last time. In fact it is one of the reasons I quit meth.

But one of my friends who also used did never come out of the psychosis. And he refuses treatment now!

I think they have meds for this. My friend, that I mentioned, had taken them and he functioned normally and was normal. But he quit taking them. And he is way out there now.

Reading the previous two entries before mine is discouraging. I would rather take a different approach. I do not know your daughters case. But my mother never gave up on me when i was down in this crap.

Today I am clean and sober with no intentions of going back to that life.

I have done everything, it doesn't work.. The one thing I have never done is kept her away from me.. She has no concept what love is while she is using.. The only time she has even talked to me was when she was in rehab..Why because she was clean...You should read the book A Beautiful Boy..It will show you what the parent goes threw...When I finally got clean I asked my mother how can I ever forgive myself for what I have done..She said to me don't do it again and that is all it took for her to forgive me..

The effects from longterm meth useage is similar to bipolar disorder. Which includes auditory hallucinations.
