I would have your OBGYN test you FSH levels to determine meno if your pituitary tumor doesnt interfere with the reading of the results. Your OBGYN should be a guide on when to take your med. Activella appears to be estrogen. You can also, if need be, ask for the generic version of this which is Estradiol, and on Walmarts $4 list. No sense to get name brand (unless doc insists or you prefer it) when generic is affordable. You can generally take hormones any time as long as the time you pick you stay consist. If you take them in the morning then sticking with morning is good. But always, if you forget it, or think it is too late to take it, it generally isnt. Ive forgotten to take mine until 4 pm and the pharmacist told me it isnt too late because hormones dont generally keep you up or anything. It just the consistency of taking them at the same time that is a bigger factor. The Activella may very well balance out your hot flashes/chills. Hormones generally get into your system in 2 or 3 days, but it can take 3 months for your body to adjust to the new addition of hormones and get used to the fact that it is being introduced. In my opinion, hormones generally balance out your moods as well as help with fatigue, anxiety, improve sleep, and energy. Paxil will help but you have to give it a minimum of as early as 2 weeks and as long as 6 weeks to see a marked difference. Talk to your OBGYN about your Activella and a pharmacist who generally knows more about both of these Rx's. Best Wishes! Hi jfo624. I've been on Activella about 18 months. I had a few months of breakthrough bleeding after not having a period in over a year. Other than that, I had no side effects.

Originally, I was on Prempro for about 4 months and it did not help me at all. Then my doc switched me to Activella and it made all the difference in the world. I still have hot flashes and night sweats, but not to the degree I did a couple of years ago. Plus, I live in the deep,deep south where 90% humidity is common this time of year and our heat index is generally over 100. I think if I lived somewhere cooler I would be symptom free .
