Tingling in Hands and Feet?

I just saw on Jaded Secret's list of symptoms that "a sensation of tingling in extremities" could occur in menopause. Does anyone else experience your hands or feet "falling asleep" much more easily now that you are in peri or menopause? I have been concerned about this, because if I am just sitting in a chair reading, I find that my hand numbs-out,. and I have to shake it to get the circulation going again. And if I'm sitting at the computer, often my foot will lose all sensation, and I have to wait a couple of minutes for feeling to come back. I have mentioned this to other women my age (55), and they have said that they are experiencing this, too.

I also mentioned it to my doctor, and she said that she didn't feel it was a circulation problem, because "my pulse was too good". I didn't think to ask her if it could be a menopause symptom, because it never occurred to me that it would be.

Does anyone else experience this, and if so, have you been told it is a symptom of menopause?

From what I'm getting from reading the responses about this, it sounds to me like part of the tingling or numbing could be menopause or age-related, with other medical factors involved, like arthritis, nerve problems, or carpal tunnel syndrome. And I still feel (irregardless of what my MD says) that it could be circulation-related, especially since my mother had circulation problems all her life.

Kaylish - your MD says it's carpal tunnel - it sounds to me like it would be early-onset - has your MD suggested anything you can do to prevent it from progressing? I'm on the computer a lot, so carpal tunnel may be a factor for me, too...I would imagine there's something that could be done to prevent it from worsening...

(Hopefully not staying off the computer...lol)

I was not aware of the tingling being a symptom of menopause, I have pain and tingling in my face on the left side. I thought is was nerve damage from Rosacea and I was getting depressed thinking that it was going to be permanent. Now after reading this thread I'm thinking maybe it is just a side effect of the hot flashes dilating the blood vessels in my face. Can anyone give me a link of where to go to read about the tingling and menopause? I also have the leg cramps at night and taking calcium before bed helps prevent that.
