Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
If your menopausal symptoms are not severe I don't think you should take anything that are not considered natural herbs. You should get your hormone levels checked & keep in mind that there are excellent over the counter hormonal creams which are sold at most drugstores that are hormonal friendly such as; drugstore.com, amazon.com, etc.
My progesterone & estrogen levels are low, but my testosterone is pretty high. Most women have lower progesterone levels than estrogen. I use an OTC progesterone cream called, Emerita Pro-gest, & it works pretty good. I don't recommend compounded hormonal creams that come from certain pharmacutical companies, cuz they can be costly & they carry health risks.
Not trying to complicate things for ya, but if you can go to a hormonal specialist or OB-GYN you should get your hormone levels checked. If you have estrogen dominance symptoms (don't use estrogen cream alone), it's not safe to use estrogen cream without progesterone cream, but it is super safe to use progesterone cream without estrogen cream.
Do your research & check out the OTC creams, before purchasing, read the reviews first. If you suffer severe menopausal symptoms, such as; depression, mood swings, dry skin, hot flashes, inability to lose weight, weight gain, hair loss, dry eyes, fatigue, foggy thinking, short term memory loss, headaches, etc. & you feel they are unbearable, talk to your doctor about all of your options & pick the safest solution. (You should get the books by John R. Lee, M.D. - What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause , or What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause.
If the symptoms are too much for you to handle, try the creams first. Just my personal opinions. Good luck to you & keep me posted on your progress. Hang in there. Peace 2 u.
