Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
My daughter gives me meaning and sometimes a reason to keep trudging through each day. Giving to her and being there for her moves my attention away from my mind. Yes, the search for a good doctor; that is, kind, understanding, empathetic and knowledgable is certainly a challenge. Frankly, I've given up on the MD because their scope is limited. I wonder are you in a position geographically and financially to seek out bio-identical hormone therapy? Overall I read excellent responses online from women who are taking it. I'm on a waiting list to see a doctor who works specifically with the bio-identicals.
( personally, I'd stay away from anti-depressants or HRT, and while I do appreciate that some women experience benefits from these pharma-meds, they often bring further complications and confusion, so that one may end up on a medication merry-go-round - which is far from fun)
Things that help: being in nature, walking outdoors is soothing and brings me energy. On those days when I've no energy, the motivation tank is empty and anxiety grips me, I find receiving touch ( hands feet back massage ) releases the tension, reconnects me with others and gets me out of my head and back into my body. If I can just get outdoors, then my moods do shift and that veil can lift. Seek the one thing that lifts you each day. Some days I'm lost looking for the answer too, but I hope you'll take comfort from the love and support here. Just reading your post has given me strength to keep going. thank you for sharing.
I am not a walker but stretching like a cat - YOGA - That is something that may help us find balance and center ourselves on the simple thought of a stretch or breathing - that is something that may really help. Thanks Raquel for the thought on Yoga.
