I use a progesterone cream and it really helps. I love it. I had been taking HRT (estrogen) and then I heard about how much it helps when you use both the progesterone and estrogen together to even each other out. The lady at the vitamen store said use the cream for 3 weeks and then stop for a week. I started to notice that it was right about the middle of that one week that REALLY bad headaches would come on and I would get really bitchy, kind of like "that time of the month". My breast would get really sore too. I talked to the lady at the vitamen store and said that if that were the case that I could use the cream without stopping for that week, so that's what I have been doing and it feels so much better. For me the progesterone cream really does work good.

I had been using progesterone cream since last fall, and had some problems with excess bleeding bcuz I didn't use it correctly. I didn't know not to use it all the time, so it totally messed up my periods. As TomiAnne said below, only use it per the directions on the jar. I use Source Naturals sold at my local vitamin store. The instructs say that if you are still having a period (perimenopausal), use for 14 days prior to the day your period starts, then stop applying. Repeat this pattern. With what I experienced, my suggestion is that you try it this way for now. Otherwise, you may be getting way too much progesterone which can cause your flow to go wacky. Good luck, B.
