Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I am plagued by a dense of doom, dread, and paranoia that is really disrupting my life on a daily basis. It is hard for me to even leave the house, much less work. I feel like I cannot cope and I will not be able to deal with the inevitable death of my parents, husband, and the responisbility of caring for my children alone once they are gone. The answer that my mind keeps arriving at is suicide.
This is torture. How to cope??

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. Please know I can relate to your description completely. I feel doom, dread and paranoia too. . But listen, I've just joined this forum exactly because I feel as you do. Like you, I want to know I'm not alone, to reach out, to discharge the horrendous tension, fear and despair and to receive hope. We must keep hope alive. Please keep in touch with this forum and risk opening up to a person in your life who can really listen with empathy. Suicide is not the answer. Seek a way through each day. When life gets so painful I tell myself I must "direct my gaze toward the light". It may only be a sliver of light, but I must find it and it is there. You are not alone. My heart goes out to you. Stay with us. As I go through my day I will think of you, please hold me in your thoughts and prayers too.
