Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I also want to avoid other meds as feel that i will just be delaying the inevitable. However watch this space !
Good luck.
they have a pill for almost everything. hotmom you forgot to mention the pill that we don't have to pee so much. I asked my eye dr. why don't they have a pill for that, one that restores my eye sight to perfect and I don't have to look for glasses all day. lol
got progressive lenses and I have a hard time getting used to them.
We need to be our own best advocate and speak up, I told my sons doctor that he does not even have to prescribe augmenten for my son any more, that med made him have colites, but nobody would admit that, that it came from the augmenten. Well everybody hang in there and take care of yourself, only we can determine what we want to put in our bodies. Don't like the "standart of care" we receive from our healthcare providers!!!
My Gyn wanted me to consider going on Birth Control pills, AntiDepressants, or Estrogen. What an idiot. Birth Control pills will land me in the hospital with blood clots. Why does every Dr. want to put women on AntiDepressants? GEEZ. I've had a parting of ways with the little blue pill a long time ago. Unbalanced Estrogen? Are you kidding me?! WTF?!
So, I tried Black Cohosh (my Dr seemed okay with that idea, but not about the Natural Progesterone cream). And it nearly killed me (Remifemin). I was so incredibly bloated and achy, I could barely walk or fit into my clothes. WTF?
So, I read up more & more on Dr. Christiane Northrup and Dr. Lee, took the plunge and started using Natural, BioIdentical Progesterone Cream (NOT the same as Progestin!!) ... Not Wild Yam either (I use Emeritus brand). Since then, I no longer have insomnia, my night sweats & hot flashes are minimal, my anxiety reduced. Is it a cure-all? Probably not. I don't believe in the "magic bullet theory." I drink some herbal teas, including Yogi Women's Moon Cycle tea (which has chasteberry in it).
Maca gave me a horrible amphetamine high, though I did get the room cleaned. But I won't do something that hypes me. Because it also created a headache, and later, I came crashing down off the hype... not so good.
(Per Dr. Christiane Northrup, the way to get an accurate reading on progesterone levels is via saliva testing, not bloodwork. This is the kind of stuff western medicine Drs would scoff at. Of course, it's the western medicine Drs who want me on Birth Control pills...)
Having worked in the health field for several years, experience has taught me to listen to my body, not the lab work. If I can't find the right Dr for me, I will at least determine the right course of action for my body. It's my healing, after all...
Good Luck to You!
