Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Provera would be good to regular your bleeding if you want some relief and it does work.
Skip the testosterone. I took bio-identical capsules compounded. They made me SICK! Yuck. What a nauseated feeling I had. And they myth that testosterone in women raises the libido is exactly that. A myth - this is told to me by Dr. M. Gass who is the President of NAMS and has an office in Cleveland Clinic
The pellets seems a little too iffy to me. Once they are in, they stay in. And they cut an incision into your hip area and inject them. They last for a few months, so if you react badly to them I guess you're just stuck with them until they wear out. Some people swear by them, so it's just whatever works for each person.
Good luck to you! Sounds like you are having an easy peri-menopause! I'm more than a little jealous. lol
You have to be careful with pellets because the levels can get pretty high. Even if you get testosterone only, the T can convert to estrogen and contribute to proliferation of your uterine lining necessitating the addition of progesterone or progestin. And high T can cause other symptoms too. And as saltycandy mentioned, T usually isn't a solution for low libido although it is a good bone builder (as is progesterone). Estrogen helps preserve bone but supposedly does not build bone.
But again, no need to go on any HRT if your symptoms aren't too bothersome. And since you're in perimenopause, if they do get bad or your periods get really wacky, birth control oftentimes does a good job of leveling things out.
