Hi again -- I bought a Tempurpedic mattress 7 or 8 years ago, before the memory foam material was improved. It sleeps very hot and exacerbates hot flashes. For Tempurpedics, is there a good mattress cover which will sleep cooler?
I also have intense allergies. So for dustmite protection, I need to find zippered covers to encase the mattress and the upholstered foundation (which Tempurpedic has instead of a box spring).

Any recommendations would be appreciated -- I hope replacing the mattress won't be my only solution.

I'm curious about this too. I have a standard mattress with memory foam that's about 6 years old. It's SO comfortable but it holds in body heat. I'm on estrogen which has pretty much resolved overheating induced interrupted sleep but it still happens occasionally.

The plastic "box springs" and mattress covers can be purchased online (probably in some stores too). I haven't searched for any toppers for the memory foam since it's rarely a problem for me.

I have a Tempurpedic which we purchased just before Christmas. It takes a little getting used to, but now I love it. Didn't yours come already in a zippered cover? Mine did. I don't find it any hotter than my regular mattress was, but I do sleep with a fan. My husband and I also started using separate down duvets. That was the best thing as I am always off and on with mine and kept waking him up. Down is very light and airy but warm when you need to be. You can get synthetics if allergies are a problem. Thanks for writing back. Fighting4, I will be scheduling a doctor's appt. to check on HRT. And hotmom, I called Tempurpedic customer service and the rep suggested taking that cover off. (I know they've made significant changes in the mattresses since our purchase -- more even heat distribution rather than hot spots -- so it might have been a sort of bluff to give me something active to do to remedy an unfixable problem.)
I'll try putting it back on and see if it helps.

I inherited an unused one ; long story ; thought it would be the answer to my pains, etc, and now know how HOT it is ! Sadly , I got it right before summer, too. Ugh.
would be great if it did not hold in the heat from my body. I sleep w/fan, AC, etc, but none of that controls the foam under ME which is burning hot.
I might add, even b4 menopause and hot flashes, I am a hot blooded always hot person. (and live in southern Calif)

No, not Danish -- I'm from the States.
Openfacedsandwich because I'm of the age of the "sandwich generation", caring for both kids and aging parents -- only in my case, without kids.
Well let me rephrase that, I had a kid but I divorced him 2 years ago.
