Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I also had a burning tongue sensation just in the back close to the throat. I realize now that it might have been also caused by the acid reflux. Because it is a gaseous type of reflux, it goes all the way up to your larynx and pharynx. Sometimes I feel like tiny bubbles bursting in my nose and throat area.
Good luck to you and hope you feel better.
Ps. I am taking Gaviscon at night and pantomed in the morning which prescribed by my ENT doctor.
What has helped recently is eating apples. I have read that the pectin in apples helps with the reflux. When I went to the vitamin shop, they didn't have apple pectin supplement in store, but I was recommended apple cider vinegar. I will give this a try as well.
Definitely avoid any oily fatty food. I had a slice of pizza and didn't feel well after. Almost immediately I would feel pain in my ears.
Thank you for all your comments.
The other thing is the dropping of necessary digestive enzymes like papain, bromelian, and probiotics. If you have an affinity for fresh tropical fruits, then make pineapple and papaya part of your daily diet. There is yogurt for the probiotics. If you don't like fresh tropical fruits (the canned don't work for this), then purchase a digestive supplement from any vitamin section or again, Amazon. This will help get your food digesting better and the calcium into your bones where it belongs.
I will let you know if this is helping. I was prescribed Gaviscon and pantomed for six weeks and the six weeks have gone by. So hoping the probiotic will work and of course, continue to be careful of my diet.
Curious to know though, for those who has acquired this condition because they have reached middle age and heading towards menopause, if HRT has helped. I have also been taking soy milk and miso soup and found that it to be helpful.
Many thanks for all the feedbacks.
Will let you know what happens. I am happy that I haven't need to take medication for the LPR anymore (was on some for six weeks but didn't seem to help). But supplements like probiotics with digestive enzymes may be a good idea.
Thanks for posting.
