Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

sorry you are struggling right now....I can sympathize. Counseling/therapy has been a great help for me--not on meds (can't tolerate them OR HRT either...)
I have had alot on my plate the last few years--as the hormone fairy has been dancing around me--family illness's, I got a divorce, my Mother passed away from alzheimers, family issues--estate stuff...yada yada yada... I remind myself that everybody is fighting SOME kind of battle of their own...just gotta do the best we can.
That OCD stuff is rough--have a little of that myself: never treated for it, just try to put a positive spin on it... It seems to me that as my hormones fluctuate so do my symptoms. Honestly, the mental fog (and not sleeping well) have me scared some days that Im getting Alzheimers like my Mom had....OMG. I used to be pretty smart...now some days I feel mentally dull. (sigh*)
I relate to the 'some days it is a push just to do chores'...not that I was ever Martha Stewart (something zen about her---I like her) but now that the house is quieter Im trying to adjust I guess. Im trying to make some time each day to make myself (if necessary ) do something fun for myself....read, crochet, craft, decorate--something that is a distraction for a little while.
I made it almost a whole year with no periods...and a month ago, had a short one! So the meno clock starts again counting down a year. It all affects my health too: symptoms of other things get worse.
I was thinking and now I know why in all those old cowboy movies there was some odd woman living alone in her cabin and the indians NEVER bothered her because she was crazy....naw, she was just going thru menopause.
This is a great place to vent...hope you have some good days soon. You aren't alone...its a process. keep us posted
best wishes,
good1
My sex drive was low being on Paxil and now its worse being in Peri! My doctor and I have decided to try other meds that wouldnt affect my sex drive and guess what....PAXIL was the only med that could stop panic in its tracks!!! I will never never give up my paxil! I'll suffer with the low libedo! LOL. I have found that all the other meds are mainly for depression, which I DONT HAVE. I have PANIC ATTACKS and Paxil is the only thing that is PROVEN to keep them at bay!
Best of luck to you!!!!
