Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
First of all - welcome! And secondly, you are NOT alone. I started my symptoms in my late 30s, and I feel you. I got the whole "you're too young". But until a fertility doc told me I couldn't have kids because I wasn't producing any eggs anymore, no one believed me, too. The docs ran tests that came back normal (at least for fertility), but no one spent time considering that my infertility, memory zaps, weight gain, hot flashes, and crying may have been because I was perimenopausal.
I won't sugar coat this - it is tough stuff. Menopause is NOT for the faint of heart. And especially for someone as young as you,
Here are a few things that I have learned along the way:
1. You can't control what is happening to your body - just influence how you respond to it. Keep your doctor in the loop anyways. Keep doing what you are doing with your vitamins. I am hesitant to recommend anything to help, but I have used natural estrogen and progesterone creams to balance things out a bit. They helped me at least a bit with hot flashes and insomnia. You can find them at natural food stores. The weight gain is a total bummer, but I had to re evaluate my diet. In my case, I was eating way too much sugar and hitting the booze more regularly than I should have which elevated the hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, and weight gain. You don't have to deny yourself, just keep an eye on the diet because your body has changed, and things you did before won't work as well now.
2. Keep posting here - you have a great community of women (and I think there may be some empathic men too). It helps.
3. Keep praying! It works!
Of course, if you need a virtual hug or encouragement, keep reaching out.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and respond to my post. I truly appreciate it. Thank you for your encouragement and giving me your testimony of how your overcoming going your situation. I was tearing up as I was reading your response because it touched me. It feels good to know that I can open up and share this journey with others for it makes me feel like I am not alone. How are you doing in your journey? I hope all is well with you. Through the good and through the bad I take it one day at a time. The natural route that you suggested is it a tropical cream? I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed day.
Sorry - I have been bogged down with work! The cream is topical. You put a dime size dollop each on your wrist, arms, stomach, or upper thighs. It seems to help a little. My journey is going well - just tedious to feel like this. But I promise- it gets better!!! Hang in there sister!
Thank you for that information! I will take note of it.
