Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Do you have a BP monitor at home? I would suggest taking your BP twice a day at different times, making a log of it and the next time you see her show it to her. My BP usually goes up when I go to the doc too, but a few weeks ago when I went I was surprised when she took it - 118/63!
I admire you for not wanting to be on meds, I am not crazy about them either. Are you disciplined enough to do the diet and excersise routine? I am not. Plus my mom, dad had (they are both deceased now) and both my sisters have high bloodpressure - guess mine is a family thing.
I am glad she switched your meds that do not interact well with each other. Kinda scary she didn't recognize that when she first prescribed them to you.

Did you tell the doc that your pressure is a lot lower at home? Of course they expect that. Your #'s don't sound that bad, but, the ones at the doctor are high.
My mother takes Norvasc. The only complaint she has about it is it makes her tired and not feel like doing anything. That would be caused because the dose is too high, although it is a low dose, but he won't make it lower.
Could you maybe deal with the med until the teeth thing is over and then gradually come off it? Maybe after this is all over with it will come down naturally because you'll have all that off your shoulders.
Lastly, make sure your taking your pressure at the same time every day, otherwise it won't make much sense. Your pressure is lowest from about 4pm - 7pm and highest soon after waking. Take it 2 or 3x each time to get an average. My machine does it automatically.
Hope to see you done and over everything soon.

I also take Fish Oil and Wheat Germ which suppose to lower BP. I read where Green Tea helps lower BP as well. I drink that every now and then. I know I need to keep a check on my BP but right now with all my muscle tension, etc... I will wait a bit longer. The last time I went to the doc a few weeks ago.. my BP was fine.
One lady was freaking herself out so bad taking her BP her doc told her to get rid of my monitor. She said she was driving herself nuts - if you are nervous when taking your BP you will definitely get high readings - that's why I need to stay away from my monitor for a while.
here's my 64 dollar question maybe two.
1. If I take the blood pressure medicine and still have white coat high blood pressure is it still going to lower by taking the pill.
2. I have full blown panic attacks just entering a Doctors office and that raises my blood pressure sky high. So dont think blood pressure pill will help that would it?
Now the 64$ question .
Do I need blood pressure pill only?
Or do i need just a panic pill?
What will stop the white coat blood pressure and the panic anxiety .
If i go to oral surgeon without either blood pressure or panic medicines after they put me to sleep will my blood pressure and panic stop at that time?
I'm at my wits end but I STILL know I gotta do it just want to feel comfortable with whats best.
I know your worried not making fun of you just trying to lighten your mood a little.
Like my sis said - we gotta trust someone at some point. I don't think your the first person to ever get in a dentist chair with these issues and I would think any surgeon, oral or otherwise would take all into consideration before doing any procedure.
Try to take some deep breaths, run these questions by your doc and dentist. Not saying you will feel totally comfy when it comes time for the surgery I know I wouldn't and that is normal.

If you have white coat syndrome and panic when you have your BP taken then it may be slightly elevated - if you can try and relax and have the nurse re-check it then it may be a bit lower - I went through the same thing.
2. I have full blown panic attacks just entering a Doctors office and that raises my blood pressure sky high. So dont think blood pressure pill will help that would it?
Not sure - but if you are have a panic attack - that will raise your pressure a bit whether you are on BP meds or not. Panic attacks will make anybody's pressure go up.
Now the 64$ question .
Do I need blood pressure pill only?
Or do i need just a panic pill? Check with your doctor - a Xanax will help calm you down before you have your BP checked and it probably will be normal. You don't sound like you need to be on anxiety meds everyday. One thing that may help - try doing breathing exercises before you have your pressure checked - I know easier said than done.
I have definitely gone through the same thing and have the same concerns... I can definitely relate. Sometimes I wonder do I need to be on a Anti-Anxiety med or HBP meds. But I am glad my doc said I can take my BP meds every other day.
