Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
All endocrine problems so I am at a loss as to what exactly happened or how it started but I do remember being very warm, but that would come and go. I remember just blowing it off, I had no idea what hot flashes were and no one told me. It was one of the things I had to find out for myself.
It just sneaks up on you. Very unpredictable and boom! all of a sudden it starts and lasts for years. The transition is mind blowing at times. But that's life, I guess
I really don't know when mine started either, only because I had a brother die and another personal issue come up so I don't know if my crying non-stop was from that or from all the drama in my life.
I just know one day I was standing in my kitchen and all of a sudden I started crying. I was having trouble breathing at that same time, and within a short period of time i was shaking and crying I've since been on Xanax and to this day I really don't know if that is perimenopause or just anxiety.
I have about 5 other symptoms as well. I know i was having weird body sensations and maybe some minor hot flashes but they seemed to have leveled off since taking Xanax.
My hormone levels come back normal so I really don't know what to think!!
I have a friend that has hot flashes for a couple of weeks and then they subside. they do return but only for a few weeks every couple of months.
Good luck and hang in there!!
Vicki.
