I should have mentioned this a while ago! I've been using the homeopathic Lachesis Mutus 30C for several years.
It's very effective against hot flashes. I don't take it all the time, just when the flashes return. I then take it immediately and use it a couple of times a day for the next two days, say. the effects last (on me) for months.
I do use estrogen, but it's a very low dose - 0.3mg. So, depending on weather or general health, sometimes the flashes start generating.
Lachesis Mutus comes as the familiar little while homeopathic pellets. You can find it in health food stores or drug stores (some carry homeopathics). The most common is in the potency 30C. But even if you only find 6X or 6C or other low numbers it will be fine.

Recently the company I bought the tablets from went out of business so now I'm looking for a new source and trying a different company online.
Hope I find something that works the same.
