Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Technically, menopause is when you go a year without having a period. Unfortunately, there's no cut-and-dried anything when it comes to menopause, and we're all different, like me going through years of intensely overwhelming symptom after symptom, many simultaneously, while my mother-in-law's periods just stopped one day and that was it; no hot flashes, no mood swings, no symptoms at all.
I agree with the other posters, however, that you have your breakthrough bleeding checked.
I've no suggestions for dealing with hot flashes, but I can recommend Christian Northrup's book "the Wisdom of Menopause".
Hugs, kisses, and good luck!
