Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Could anyone tell me if being on HRT lessons hot flushes compared to not being on HRT? I suffer with hot flushes during the day and night and would do anything to lesson these horrible flushes. However I've been concerned about going on HRT due to the health scares. I would really appreciate some advice thank you.

I think this varies from person to person. For me, the most effective thing for reducing hot flashes was Estroven, which is in drugstores and doesn't require a prescription. I know many women's hot flashes are reduced my HRT, but I tried it for a week and my hot flashes got way worse. I had one for 3 hours! In fact, my heat regulation in general took a nose dive when I was on HRT. I

Hi JeanneA, I have been on combined HRT for 5 weeks now. Yes it works, after 1 week I had no flushes which I was having real trouble with. What I didn;t realise was for the last 4 years I thought my depression and mind fog was my new life. After one week I had no depression. Wow. Now after 5 weeks I think so clearly I can't believe it. I'm 50 and feel so differently now. Period returned for a full week as tablets mimic natural cycle. Hope this helps you make a desicion.

Hi thanks for your reply. I'm pleased to hear HRT seems to be working out for you, I'm still not sure what to do to be honest, worried about breast cancer so I just don't know .

Estrogel and prometrium both prescriptions,worked very well for my hotflashes. Some of the natural remedies suggested have been, Evening Primrose Oil and Vitamin E combined. Most Dr's I have spoke with suggest you have to be on HRT for at least 5 years for it to be linked to cancer. Best of luck.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
