Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I totally understand your avoidance of more medication. Is there any chance that your 2 epilepsy medications could be causing the depression? Also, I would ask your doctor to see you sooner since your symptoms are actually conflicting with your ability to function. Maybe the HRT isn't right for you? Please let me know what happens...
I've been on these two epilepsy meds for years and the sudden bouts of depression and anxiety didn't start until menopause, so it's not them.
Additionally, the depression is not ongoing (see today: I posted this discussion topic at 1pm, and now that I've had a good cry, some time with my husband, and a good, LONG nap, I'm lots better). The emotional bouts, like the physical ones, just flare up periodically with no rhyme or reason, and I get through them, but I'm just seeing if there is some way to stop them in their tracks.
Thanks for your input and concern!
