Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Does anyone have any tips that they use to deal with MD that others might not know?

Here is mine: I'm a side sleeper. If I sleep with my affected ear down (on the pillow), I will wake up dizzy. If I sleep with my affected ear up, and my good ear on the pillow, then I wake up fine. I have no idea why this is. But it's true.

I HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE ,DO NOT KNOW WHY BUT IT WORKS I NEVER SLEEP ON MY BAD EAR, GOOD LUCK ,SQUARLEY

I'm the opposite. I sleep on my right side because I can hear better out of my left ear. :)

Ok here's another one just learned. Recently I wake up with a bad headache and dizziness most days. Sometimes it wanes, sometimes it comes and goes all day, sometimes it triggers vertigo. Asked my dr about it. He said its likely a side effect of the diuretic I'm on and is actually dehydration occurring overnight.

Solution - drink more water during the day and a full glass before bed. And it worked. If you have trouble with killer headaches with dizziness and you are on a diuretic, give it a try.

I AM NOT ON A WATER PILL HAD SIDE EFFECT, BUT ON LOW SODIUM DIET ,DRINK 3 TO 4 BOTTLE OF WATER A DAY BUT STILL WAKE UP LIKE THAT,WONDER SHOULD I DRINK MORE?

Dr said low sodium diet could contribute too. I think it wouldn't hurt to try. It's so simple and can't hurt you as long as you don't go really crazy. The only down side is that I have to get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night now lol.

I say if it works for you great I am willing to try things, I sometimes sleep with the good ear into the pillow so the house is quiet when i can not hear out of the bad one! But was not aware sleeping on bad ear side to pillow might casue me issues. Thanks for the advise.

I also agree I do feel better with more water intake. Try to watch salt intake and do take a water pill.

When I feel pretty bad I keep moving, for some reason it settles things down, I get a lot more tired that way but just keeps me sane. God Bless!

i have to sleep on my "better" ear. i cant stand to have anything touch my "bad" ear. hate the sound of my finger touching my ear even...ugh! just do what makes u sleep good.god knows it is a hard one.
