Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I get a tightness too. When it is there, I am dizzier. I compare it to walking around with textbooks on my head. Somedays it's OK. Others it's a 5-book day or a 7-book day. It is hard to communicate to others just exactly what it feels like, but when it is there, I too get fatigued.
Hope you get some relief.
I too get the pressure in my head. For me, it is a strong painful pressure like a vice grip and I usually try ibuprofren around the clock along with sleep until the pressure/pain subsides. Sometimes it takes a day or two. Usually the dizziness coincides and also nausea.
Hope you feel better..
One of the symptom's that is used to identify if a person has Menieres is what they call "fullness in the head". For me it is like my head a baloon and as quickly as one can blow and fill it up, it strikes me. Soon my head is stuffy and the other things follow, hearing distortion, visual distortion and then vertigo. Whenever this happens I know I am about to have an attack and I take my Valium to calm the vestibular nerve. It takes about 15 minuets and during that time, I feel the baloon deflate. I tell my wife it is like going up an elivator. Bad is usually the 15th floor, as I come down it is like the elevator is comeing down. She will ask me "what floor are you on?" If I get to the 5th floor it is usually safe to resume activity. Things settle down by the time I hit the 3rd floor but do not get better than that unless I sleep it off. Still dizzy but thats the valium for the most part. Hope this helps.....I tend to ramble.
God bless!

You don't ramble. You describe eloquently. I think we all need to describe how we feel at some point. That is hard to do. Like jwlee said... we also find out that other people in this group experience the same weird sensations or symptoms. I have often written down words others have used to describe something, because it fits me perfectly..... So, if you think it is rambling..... ramble on. Please.
