Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Does MD cause anyone else to have almost a skin tightness on their head? I have skin tightness and shooting pain all over my scalp, and it seems to be linked to attacks. Anyone else?

No problems here with such issues but did find this on Web, will see if others are experiencing this also.

Hi Jeff,
I've noticed before that you have asked questions that describe me also. Yes, it feels tight on my scalp, not usually on top, but on the back. I do notice that tingling tightness on top sometimes when I am looking up, like on the top shelf in a store. I also get the stabbing pains, like needle jabs. When the pains are worse, my pressure and dizziness are also worse.The only thing I have found that helps is time and taking it easy. I try to drink more water too.

I have a random mild on a frontal forehead tension headache after diagnosed with a MD early last year and fortunately able to function most normal thru a rest of last year. I start to get a random to daily and from mild to serve frontal tension headache since March this year. My blood pressure ussually higher when i get this sysptom.

Jeff I also have this tightness on the scalp and tingling pains that feel like little needles and this also seems to happen during an attack. My ENT doc said nothing about it. My normal Doc said it was tension caused by anxiety. The Neurologist said it was tension from stress or lack of sleep. I argued that because I get the head and upper neck tightness almost daily. Dont take this the wrong way but when I read ur MD symtems it kinda made me happy only because the doctors started to make me feel like I was crazy when I described the symptoms. They tried to give me headache medications but they all had side effects that made me feel weak and sick. Did you find anything that offers relief?

@Jeremydg916, I haven't yet, but I'm still working on it. I still believe I have something else wrong that is causing my Meniere's symptoms, but it seems like every since my regular doc found out my ENT diagnosed me with MD, he thinks everything I say I'm having a problem with is because of MD. Seems like I can't win for losing here lately. Good luck to you and welcome to the group.

I have this at times as well. I recently saw an oral-maxiollfacial pain doc. I was referred by my dentist to check out my TMJ to see if I have a disorder of that joint. I researched TMD before I went, and was surprised to learn this scalp tightness and pain is a symptom of TMD. By the way, I do have mild TMD. It doesn't seem to be bad enough to have caused my Meniere's. So didn't help me there. But I have a friend who, after getting her TMD fixed, had her Meniere's symptoms disappear. So...it might be worth checking out.
