Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

So I finally made it to a real place that could figure out what is going on instead of a local, small town ent. After the tests, the doc told me it is 100% menieres in my right ear. The fluid level is 2 times higher than in my left ear. So his idea of what could help me is something he calls a profusion injection. They cut a tiny slit in your eardrum and inject a steroid and antibiotics. Its a 3 day procedure and I just had the first round today and feel like CRAP now. Anyone else had this done and did it make you feel awful at first as well? Thanks in advance for any help.

I did not have your proceedure but dexros injections, any extra fluid (even temperary) will make you feel worse initially. Let us know how it goes for you! I have heard of this proceedure but do not know anyone who has had it done.

Thanks Rich. I guess it makes sense that adding the extra fluid would make me feel awful. I've got two more days of injections then I get to go to the comfort of my home. Hotels just suck when you feel bad

I had a small tube (myringotomy) inserted in my inner ear in Sept.2012. (Out patient surgery) The ENT Dr. puts steroid drops in the tube into my inner ear every month. I always feel worse for a few days after the drops. He recently said some of the newer thinking is to put steroid drops in every day for one month. I do not feel the drops have been helping much at all. I am going to try them every 2 weeks or so to see if that makes a difference. Good luck with this, all the best.

Day 2 down. I feel a little better than I did yesterday. I think my biggest problem is the incision they made in my ear drum. One minute it'll feel like my ear is full of water then my ear will pop and release the pressure. I'm just hoping this procedure will help some.

I had three of the steroid injections, but it didn't make me feel any better or worse--just didn't make any difference at all.

I also had the gentamicin profusions but they didn't work for me, either. I think it's probably just different for everyone. Hoping the steroids work for you! I understand that it's helpful for a lot of people.

That popping noise goes on for a while to your eardrumb heals over. I guess its just preasure being released. It bugged me for a while but about a month after treatment it stops for the most part.
