I mean logically if it can control vertigo then it should some how bring down the pressure of the inner ear as well. To my knowledge it is the fullness that leads up to a vertigo attack. If you can control the fullness then vertigo is not a problem. Unless you have experienced vertigo without fullness? When you have an attack does your ear clear up at all?

I had the endolymphatic sac shunt operation in March of 2009 at the House Ear Clinic in LA. The term 'shunt' is a misnomer. It is actually a piece of T-shaped plastic implanted in the endolymphatic sac. Has it helped me? It seems to have...but...my primary issue causing the drop events/vertigo/nausea was from another reason. It took me almost 3 years to figure out that allergy shots really, really irritated my MD. Then, there were a host of other factors that took me another 11 months to figure out. So, yes, the operation helped me. The fullness in my left ear is nowhere near the levels it had been prior to the operation. Again, I was so sick and so desperate that I was willing to try anything. I solved the primary factors making me ill with my daily journal... annotating what I ate, did, etc. at the time of the attack. I also believe that the Meniere's diet with low sodium, exercise, removing stress, and staying away from prepared foods has saved me along with the shunt operation. This is a complex disease and each one of us is different. The secret is to take aggressive ownership and responsibility of our own health and not leave it up to others (doctors) to solve our health issues. Aside from the shunt operation, 95% of the drugs and vitamins doctors' prescribed made my MD worse. What worked were the simple solutions: the MD diet, healthy foods, stress removal, and exercise.

When I eat out at lunch time I always go to Subway because they post their nutritional facts online. But would that be something you would do as well or do you literally bring your own lunch from home? See I am not sure if the facts online are 100 percent correct because it depends on how they make the bread or how much mayo they put in the tuna. And what can you tell me about your experience with Allergies? This is my first year with MD and when allergy season started a few days ago for me I saw a change in my fullness from a semi full to a tight fullness which I can assume that with the increase in the histamine level in the body. Thanks for your direction.

I notice that when my ear opens up that I have a feeling of imbalance which to me is the inner ear nerve that has damage from the health condition. After the surgery did you notice that same imbalance or do you regain your balance back?

Well, Szafar, I have become a giant health nut. If at all possible, I bring my own lunch. If that is not possible, I ask for the breakdown in salt content and choose accordingly. Eating out often and using processed foods, etc. are not an option for me any longer. I am careful, but if I mess up I plan the meals for the rest of the day accordingly. Allergies are a problem, so when things are blooming and shedding pollen like crazy, I limit my time outside or wear a mask. Since I am outside a lot, I wear a mask a lot. The fullness pretty much went away with the shunt operation. The allergy shots made me very, very sick as did all allergy and cold medicines. I feel much better if my nose is cleared out naturally without meds. Does this help? My ear never cleared up, but when I have a runny nose...like now...I notice my balance is not quite as good. Wishing you all the best. You will figure this out. Be careful of doctors...they don't know all the answers. If a medication makes you feel like doo-doo...then don't take it regardless of what they say. Big hug!
