Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Pycnogenol study offers hope

A friend just sent me information regarding this study...
A recent Italian study published in the June, 2014 issue of Minerva Medica shows that the French maritime pine-bark extract Pycnogenol, which aids microcirculation, can help those with Mnires disease and ringing in the ear by significantly improving inner-ear blood flow. If you google the name you can read all about it.

I'm sorry to report after taking 100mg a day for almost 3 months I haven't seen much improvement. None in volumne of my ringing and just the slightest improvement in hearing. If I wasn't keeping track, I probably wouldn't have noticed the improvement. The search goes on.

The study on PubMed talks about a reduction of vertigo, and I'm happy to say, my vertigo has gotten MUCH better.
I started taking this in the beginning of November when my vertigo was at it's worst. 2.5 months I'm almost vertigo free. I've been having vertigo almost daily for a long time. Mini-attacks. Then this year I started having constant spinning, where I couldn't focus on a spot. Then in November I started having violent vertigo many times a day.
Now I haven't been having vertigo for almost a month.
If it's from Pycnogenol or not, I don't know, but I sure am happy. And I'm going to continue to take it. The PubMed study showed an 85% reduction in vertigo after 3 months. I'll take that. :-)

And I thank you so very much for mentioning it here, if it weren't for you NYNancy, I wouldn't have known about it!! Thank you so much. I'm sorry you didn't get any relief.

No I didn't get any reduction in my tinnitus. That I noticed, I wasn't really looking for that. I was just looking for a reduction in vertigo.

I'm completely deaf, I have cochlear implants, so noticing an improvement in hearing isn't an option.

I'm still taking 100mg a day but after reading your post 1artsychick, maybe I'll try upping the dose to 150mg for a time, Thank God I pretty much have the vertigo under control with a low sodium no caffeine diet but I'd love to get some reliefs from my very noisy ear,
