Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Looking for others to engage with about Meniere's

I am a middle aged guy who has been fighting this ugly snake for about 3 years now with the vertigo, ear fullness, ear ringing, cold sweats, nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue and hearing loss in my left ear. Looking for some great conversations with other sufferers. Just been placed on a water pill, a little nervous about side effects.

I have had Meniere's for almost 50 years now. I was 17 when I got it in the first ear, and it went to the other ear when I was 39. I had shunt surgery in both ears which did alleviate the severe vertigo. The problems I still have are primarily tinnitus, pressure, and fluctuating hearing in the second ear, but I go through long remissions--sometimes years--with no symptoms at all. The water pill didn't help at all. The low sodium diet didn't make a difference either. The triggers which bring on or worsen symptoms are drastic changes in weather or barometric pressure, and particularly if the weather suddenly goes from cold to hot., Stress is a contributing factor as well, and it's impossible to not feel stressed when I don't feel well and have to put my life on hold. About the only thing I've ever found that helps a little is to get extra rest; maybe that has to do with the exhaustion that comes with the condition.
The one thing I have not tried is UCC, and with all the very mixed reviews and opinions I am reading about that, not sure if I will ever go that route. If you have any questions, I will be happy to try and answer them. Best to you.
