Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I'm definitely seasonal. It seems to somehow go away during the summer. Seasonality could imply allergies, except that I don't have any allergies that I know of, and winter is the least allergenic season. I'm curious to know if other people have seasonal Meniere's, and what is the timing of it?
This has been going on for over 10 years. I get the symptoms sometime in the the late fall / early winter, and by spring or summer, it's better or gone. Some years are worse than others.
You said your last symptoms were from June to October, but this time it started in April? It's been almost a year now. Did it stop? When?
Your timing might fit the allergy season. Mine does not.
benadryl is out of the question b/c the last time i took it i was sooo nauseated.
Its wierd...althrough dec/jan/feb..I was dizzy free & then BANG...here we go again.
i am going to look into lipo-flavanoids.
I'm just thinking if it's consistently seasonal, then that might tell us something about what triggers it. For you, it sounds like early spring is your season, and that just made me think of allergies. Depending on where you live, tree pollen and grass pollen could be active during the early spring - not that it helps you avoid the trigger, unless you can stay indoors, or move to the desert.
But I hasten to add, that in my case, the timing would seem to rule out allergies, and even in your case you may not have any allergies, and there may not even be a pattern. It's only happened 2 years in a row, and then before that it was in the autumn. Do you think there's a consistent seasonal pattern if you think back longer than that? Are there any safe seasons or months for you? Is there a time of year where the symptoms never start? For me, that's summertime, and early fall.
I guess I'm looking for patterns, because that's the only thing I know to do. Once this symptoms begin, all I can do is cut way down on salt and hope it goes away soon. So I'm hoping to identify a trigger and then maybe I'll be able to avoid it.
Many potential seasonal factors come to mind - temperature and humidity of course, daylength, mood, lifestyle changes, spending more or less time outdoors, different components of air pollution are more active in the summer, diets probably change, holiday stress, or holiday food or candy, or tax season, maybe having the kids around all day in the summer, or the end of the financial year for certain professions... allergies are just one possibility.
apparently its helped alot of people.
I have every one of the symptoms & I am on a few meds that have it somewhat under control.
I was just lucky to finally talk to a good ENTdr.
was just about to browse the migraine forum. good luck to everyone here.
So if you are having attacks at odd times--not just when a certain plant is in bloom--it could be that something as prevalent as dust is the culprit (and the solution is as simple as a cloth mask).
