It's ironic that you posted this since I was so disappointed with my ear specialist that I was seeing that I went back to my ENT this past week. That appt was even more disappointing than the specialist. He pretty much refused to do anything and wants me to go back to the same place I just left and see another specialist for a 2nd opinion. It's apparently the only place in Cincinnati, OH that knows anything about MD. And he wants the specialist to talk to me about Endolymphatic Sac Decompression Surgery. Has anyone has this done with any success? Did it help with the ear fullness, hearing or vertigo? How long did it last? Any help is appreciated!

On a positive note, I went to the NUCCA Chiro consultation and am going back this week to read the xrays and have my first adjustment. I'm hoping that has a positive outcome.

The Neurologist is going to do nothing about your MD, it is not under their specialty. What they will do is rule out other conditions that have similar symptoms as MD, these could include things like Lupus, tumors, brain wave malfunctions, Parkinson's and many others. MD is a condition that is given to group of symptoms that can not be classified. It is both considered a disease and a syndrome. Once you have accumulated a medical record that discounts everything else then they say you have MD. Real effective treatments are on a case to case basis. People often ask, why do all the testing? For one thing controlling the attacks with things like Valium seem to dull the vestibular nerve and second if you are working, there maybe a time down the road where considering disability may become a reality. One of the major pitfalls in getting disability form MD is having a long and tested medical record. I agree with many who have said, finding the right MD doctor is important. Let us know if you need some suggestions.

I cant' believe i forgot to add that the person who diagnosed me with meniere's was a wonderful female audiologist! So maybe U'd have better luck with an audiologist? Have you been referred to one yet?
And I just responded to another gal from ohio on here, Carrottop50 who's also from ohio so maybe both of U can help each other? She wrote under 'new here"! It's always helps to know people whom have the disease. After I was diagnosed, i was surprised to find how many people had it that i knew!

three Audios told me I should ask about Menieres they are not allowed to diagnose but they can suggest I ask about it.

I have had similar experiences with Dr.s. I think there are several things going on here. 1.) There is no cure for Meniere's Disease and some treatments work for some patients not others, so the Dr.s have difficulty dealing with us. 2.) ENTs make big bucks with little effort, expense, or chance of death or litigation from patients with allergies.(Have you ever been in an ENT's office when there weren't at least one or two allergy patients in there? I haven't.) Meniere's patients on the other hand have fluctuating symptoms which are difficult to diagnose and treat. Is it any wonder they don't want to take time with us Meniere's patients! If there are clinics out there that are really interested in treating people with Meniere's Disease I for one would really like to hear about them.
