Do you have any other symptoms besides hearing loss? There are other conditions that can cause hearing loss. What kind of tests did your original ENT run? And, aren't there copies of those?

Hearing loss is just one symptom of Meniere's as I'm sure you know.
Most doctors put patients on water pills in the hope to reduce fluid in the ears but it helps some. A low salt diet is the big one as salt retains fluid in the body.
You need to see a good ENT who specializes in Meniere's and other inner ear diseases to have several tests to determine whether or not you really have it.
If you don't have severevertigo attacks, excessive ear pressure along with ringing (tinnitus) then you may have some other inner ear disorder. You have to keep looking for a good specialist for a diagnosis. Unfortnately most inner ear diseases are treated poorly with no actual cures.

yes I have the tests that were ran, and Yes I have severe vertigo, ear pressure to the point I thinkmy jead is going to explode lol and feels like some one is drilling screws in my head, I have the rining in my ears Oh boy do I have ringing, ( Which I am use to cept when it gets so quiet all i hear is the ringing lol
Thats the problem today, an ENT is no longer helpful as you know have to find a specilist to go with the specialist you are going to OHMY!!! Yes I am going to look for one who specializes in Meniere's.

I hope you're able to find one to help you. I was basically told, you have MD, there's nothing we can do for you unless you have an attack, goodbye. I've been back once, but will probably go again this winter just to see how much of my hearing I've lost now. And, they'll probably run all those horrid tests again to see how it's progressing.

Again, I thank GOd for all of U as U validate my experiences! I have recently asked people about their hearing loss on here as it seems to vary. A friend of mine sent me what she's read about meniere's and it said "episodic, fluctuating hearing loss". Mine's pretty permenant and as I wrote be4, I was told it was a progressive disease and I'll go deaf...
However, the ENT I saw first said it wasn't meniere's (and I've read if u get diagnosed early enough, they can try and save the hearing!) but later I had a good audiologist whom gave the diagnosis! I went to a 'specialist" and he wanted to do those tests but I'm not letting ANYONE put anything more in my ears and no more hearing tests as it just makes my ears WORSE! Be very careful what U put in your ears! I was given several things to try and they just blocked up my ears, esp cipro ear drops.
I had a friend whom started years ago, going to her doc and TELLING HIM what she had, and usually he'd agree! Saved her the usual 6 months of not knowing and having to keep going back. They might not like us doing that and having so much info on the internet but tough! It's our life!
And I hope no one's still putting a cell phone to their ears??!

Well ive had the same experience with ENT. The last visit i had was several years ago. I went in after an exam to determine nerve function and the doctor mentioned i dont have Menierer. I said fine then why don't you check my record of what you said the previous year...OOPs. ! Well the doctor said well seem that you had it then but you dont have it now. But the doctor offered to inject something in my ear relieve the tinnitus. Now that a load of Crap ! Ive read enough about this condition from many journals and it just does not disappear specially if you are still getting the symptoms. Some doctors are just lazy, some really have no grasp of what they are dealing with and some are just damn lazy... to check your record over the years to see that you have that typical hearing loss in the low frequency range and that your hearing and tinnitus is still fluctuating. IF you don't have meniers then what do you have....the definition can vary to atypical meniere syndrome etc...

In any case i would not want any ENT injecting anything in my Ear when they don't even bother reading my records. Like i said the last ENT..had a line up in his office ...i see them go in and out, a good 5 minutes per person ...I gave up on whole lot of them.

i've had a diagnosis of MD without havibng a hearing test apart from the normal physical one.I had an MRI scan but tha was to check if there was anything else like tumours going on.i've had tinnitus for over thirty years but in the last two years it's developed into Md,my hearing loss fluctuates but the pressures there most of the time,sometimes i can hear quite clearly ,other times i seem quite deaf to myself and others around me.You should be on a beta histamine tablet thats what really helps.Ask for Serc.and yes always push doctors we have to care for ourselves ,they don't always..................good luck
