Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I just saw a new ear Dr and he claims I dont have Meniere\'s as my hearing doesnt match the criteria...hmmmmmmmmmm My old Dr took all the tests and put down that i have a leakage in the middle ear. I get that full feeling, ringing real loud , feel like my head is going to explode,headaches and lose of hearing>>>which this new dr said has gotten worse.

Has anyone heard this? Shoud I get a second opinion>?

Meniere\'s is pretty specific in that if you have no hearing loss it\'s probably something else. If you have fullness and ringing due to some leakage then that is a seperate issue outside Meniere\'s. I would get another opinion yes, and I would also look at what other things it could be such as allergy, migraines, neurological issues, etc.

My 1st doctor said the same thing to me. I only had high-frequency hearing loss in one ear and he told me it couldn\'t possibly be Meniere\'s since Menieres is low-frequency hearing loss. It didn\'t matter to him that Meniere\'s runs in my family. A year later I have NO hearing in that ear, starting getting vertigo, brain fog and fullness. He said I now have Meniere\'s.

I just met with a new doctor for the first time and he is great. I have to do a whole new round of blood tests I never did before and go for an ENG/ECT which is the official Meniere\'s test. I also do MRIs yearly.

Short answer -- yes, get a second opinion.
