Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I read on the internet a few nights ago that having only 1 or 2 gent shots into the ear may help with vertigo and other symptoms but it will not kill off the balance nerve at all. Has anyone taken the gent shots where they have no completely killed off the nerve but has gotten relief in fullness/ tinnitus and vertigo?

Hi. I've had good results w/ the gent. shots. Read thru my journal. It does kill off the nerve balance.

I had 2 shots I reacted different to both of them. It is a distructive procedure which I learned from being on this support group after I took the shots. I am not an ENT or a DR so I cant give medical advice. It has helped me tho. I was almost bed ridden with vertigo attacks in sept 2012. It does destroy your balance in the treated ear. There is therapy for this. It will never be 100% again. My hearing still comes and goes, and the ringing has gotten worse. But I have not had a vertigo attack for 86 days. My ENT thinks they will not return. For me the injections were worth the trade off for a better quality of life living with MD. It is not a cure, just a vertigo treatment.
