Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Personally, I never heard that extra sleep was associated with MD, but who knows? I take a Melatonin every night and sleep about 6 or 7 hours, hardly ever more than that. And being 83, I also nap during the day.
Of course, if you think the extra sleep is abnormal, check it out with your doctor.
Claymom, On a normal day, I have a long time in bed at night but a bit restless. Then I have a short Nanny Nap in the afternoon. But as soon as I do too much or any stress sets in I'm very tired and can't keep my eyes open. So yes for me MD does cause tiredness. My ENT told me a lot has to do with the fact that we balance with our eyes, which is a large extra load on them. So overwork them...I'm tired.
God Bless

First, take all your prescription and look them up on line, look at side effects and write down the med and the chance of drossiness. This will let you know if your sleep has to do with your prescriptions.
I have a sever sleep disorder so I am familiar with testing. There is a quick test called the Empworth Sleep scale, see
http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/epworth.html
To evaluate your score go to
http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/key.html
To understand more about this test go to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epworth_Sleepiness_Scale
If you have MD this will also effect your tiredness because the brain must work differently to perceive the world around you. This use to be automatic but not any longer.
Good luck and God bless!
Rich
I sleep as much as I can typically 10 hours a night and I'm still tired. I notice the fatigue is worse when I'm my symptoms are worse.
