Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

some times when i am working i feel fine and when i sit down and eat my lunch i feel like i am going to get dizzy. just wondering if anyone else experienced this. have had this happen at home too. wonder if it has anything to do with blood flow or something? i feel better if i just keep working.

I have that sometimes as well. It used to be worse than it is now, simply because I learned to accommodate. For example, I drink from a straw so that I'm not constantly tilting my head back and forth to take a sip. Also I almost never eat at a table but hold my plate just below chin level to again lessen the up and down movement.

Besides the actual head movements, chewing activates the muscles under the jaw and around the base of the skull, which seems to make it worse for me.

When I'm having a dizzy day I notice that the dizziness gets worse with position changes. Feel best standing, then when I sit or lay down it makes my dizziness worse for a bit until my body adjusts to the position change
