I use to use cotton balls but not anymore. I use to use turn when it was cold outside or when I was sleeping at night cause I have a fan on me. But I stop wearing cotton balls.

What kind of earplugs do you use?
I use a pair of earplugs anytime I am around loud noises too... music... sports events ....even some restaurants.... I experience the roaring also, but it is much better than going into a dizzy spell. My ears really ring quite loud for hours afterwards. I've given up on the looking silly part. If I am going to be there I have no choice. And I'm sure it looks better than holding my fingers in my ears.

i use those foam kind of earplugs that you roll up and stick in your ears. works for me.

I wonder if I wear them to my son football game will that help me??

I use Etymotic earplugs made for musicians. They block about half of the sound out which makes my tinnitus more bearable yet still allows me to hear some conversation. LOVE THEM!

Hey KJT, Give it a try. I use the same kind of earplugs as ImaDizzyDude. I found them online for around $10. They are tons better than the foam kind. They allow me to stay involved in music with my church. I also take them with me whenever I go someplace I think might be noisy.
801man, the "musician earplugs" toned down really loud tinnitus to just the "roaring", which I can handle.... I used to use the bright colored foam ones too. I keep the old foam ones on hand in case I forget to bring my etymotic plugs.

I need to get something.. I haven't even try the foam ones. I figure with this disease nothing will help. I have pretty much gave up

Those etymotic ear plugs sound great. Are they reusable? I've been using ones that I work pretty well...they are round silicon balls that you roll between your palms and then fit over, NOT into your ear canal, but over the opening to your ear. They do a great job, are available at the drugstore, come about 12 to a box and each pair can be reused twice. They're also way less noticeable than the foam ones. But I'm interested in trying the etymotic ones.

Great info. Thanks. I have the foam ones I use that look a bit obvious.
One reason I use them is to cover the hole where the Dr. inserted the tube. It lets air in and the air hits my ear drum and makes me more dizzy.
