Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Does anyone have a cup of coffee or a soda and not feel the awful effects of dizziness? I am scared to have a caffenated drink, but would love one!

I have stopped drinking coffee, which was SO SO hard for me to do. I love coffee so much! And even decaf contains the oil of the coffee bean which is what we want to avoid, so decaf isn't the answer either. And aspartame in soft drinks can set off Meniere's symptoms, so keep your eye on that. I know I noticed a BIG difference when I stopped drinking those too. SO: I'm off caffeine, aspartame, use very little salt, cut way back on milk and soy products, and I'm feeling Great so these sacrifices are worth it in the end.

I haven't given up coffee. I drink about 2 cups in the AM. I don't drink soda though. Before this last attack which started a month ago, I hadn't had an attack for two years! My chiropractor does a manipulation which stretches the muscles on both sides of the neck and it did the trick for two years!

I had to stopp drinking coffee..(I love it) its been 2 wks now, i still crave it like crazy..but it does set off an episode. ;-(

I cant drink pepsi b/c it gives me heartburn..& aspertine is Horrible..cant handle anything "diet"
Im still drinking tea..1 or 2 cups a day.

I LOVE COFFEE!When I am having a bad episode, I have to lay off. It does make it much worse. I tried a decaf and I seemed to do better with it but I think the others are right, it would probably do us both good to just eliminate it from our diet. I have had coffee trigger an attack..after vomitting, it doesn't sound so good!

I cut out caffeine completely from my diet for an entire year. Ive recently had a hard time waking up in the morning so Ive been having one cup of coffee for the last week or 2. I havent noticed any difference yet. I will cut it back out soon as I dont want to take any chances. Although I truly believe it all depends on how you react to having Menieres, some people are way worse off than others.

I hate all the restrictions Menieres gives us but in the long run most of the changes are healthy for us anyways.

When I was having bad vertigo attacks I tried cutting out caffeine but it didn't seem to make any difference. Now I have my symptoms under control (with dyazide) and I have my two strong cups of coffee every day and it seems fine.
