I would keep your appointment and if you don't feel the therapy was useful you don't need to go back.

I'm sure you've seen an ENT specialist right? Just wondering what they're prescribing?? Sam

It is very common for people with MD to also have issues with depression. This is caused by the rapid and not positive changes in ones life. Getting sick is often as much mental as it is physical. In my case the depression has caused me to "not function", I will just stop dead in my tracks and in a constant state of confusion. I just can not function at all. I have had some success with Cymbalta but it still is a daily struggle. I smile and happy and laugh but I also get lost, confused and have lost my pace at just about everything. Some days I just sleep.

I have seen an ENT and in Jan finally a neuro. I am on vailum and it does not make it any much eaiser( my mood) at times

Rose, it is hard to explain but the Valium helps with anxiety and depression medicine helps to balance out the moods so they are more level. Sort of like a life preserver helps like depression meds so you can float in the sea of life, where the Valium helps if your head goes under water so you can get your breath back.

I second that opinion. Sometimes MD can pull you down further then you are aware. My husband notices when I whole up in the house because I am a afraid to go out and have an episode. I have to make myself leave the house(He pointed it out to me). Maybe counseling will alleviate any MD adapted tendencies that you have overlooked.

Kind of understand. Because now that the symptoms are getting bad again the mood is changing a little.

I would recommend going as it will help get your bearings & lift the fog you might be in. This will help you see the bigger picture better & allow you to make better decisions.

yea, getting help to make better decision with the MD is a good idea. Maybe, I do not know, but maybe I may learn something. even though I hate being/going to therapy.

I went to therapy for about 4 years ending 7 tears ago I was a mess after being crushed in a construction accident in 2000.I had spinal surgery and was laid up for about 11 months and developed an addiction to oxycotin. It was either go to therapy or lose my wife and every thing. In therapy I learned a lot about my self and started to feel better about my self, got back to work in my beloved trade as a union ironworker till this shit hit me in march of 2013 I can never go back to my trade and now I have a shit job with no future and am considering counseling again .I feel hopelessly trapped because of m.d. and cant help myself out of the jam I am in..I am 55 years old and have no collage degree so no employer really wants me. As someone who has always made a living off of his physical skills this disease has pretty much taken my opportunities away from me so I don't know what the hell to do. Try a little therapy it may help if it don't work try something else but never give up!

troxman399, i can relate to your situation. I couldn't do the hands on stuff when i diagnosed w/ another condition.

I started to look at what other interest or activities i like that didn't require hands on.

Most people have a range of emotions and it's normal to have lows. Most of the time they naturally pass and we find ourselves in a level mood again, feeling like ourselves. Sometimes the lows are deeper than we expect and last longer than usual but we can still bounce back up with the passage of time. Circumstances such as poor health are often related to low moods but not always. Medications can be helpful but not always. Therapy can be helpful but finding a competent one that is a good fit is essential. Perhaps art therapy or music therapy may be beneficial. Crossing fingers for you. (I personally have 2 dog therapists that are Labs :)

Well put Curlergirl and all you other folks that suffer. I find it helpful to have a person who I trust so I can be told if my behavior is off base. My wife dose a great job at this. In simple terms, the main question is always "Am I happy?" If you are stuck or say no, you need to get some assistance in getting out of the rut. Life is a book of chapters and as you move to a different chapter it is often hard because the things we use to rely on, that gave us balance are often gone or distorted. New things, adventures, life skills will help you navigate.

MD has stole my life. Its hard to slow down and I fight that. My pastor is offering me counseling too. So two time a month with a therapist and one time a month with my pastor. If I lose my hearing it is ok by me. But being sick and moody and having pain and balance issue I cannot deal with. It will happen counseling regardless how I feel.
