Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Crazy weather causing attack?

I have had a great month with very little symptoms! I almost forgot how bad it feels when another attack comes on. About 2 days ago, I became increasingly more unbalanced. A full-blown vertigo spell happened earlier. I live in Indiana where a huge winter storm is in effect for a few days. Is anyone else in this region having the same problem? It seems like I am seeing a trend with big weather systems and my meniere's symptoms.

I have that same issues! My doc says some people are bothered by weather while others are not. I have a knack of moving to locations with big weather systems so it can be really fun! Good luck!

Im in the same boat here in East Tennessee. I woke up this morning with a full on Vertigo attack, I barley made it to the bathroom where I was on my knees vomiting. Im still very dizzy with the barometer goes below 30.00 I have a day in bed or 2.

The weather has ALWAYS played a part in my attacks. I always seem to know when a front comes through, without seeing the weather.
It feels like my head goes into a fog and my ears ring worse, as well as my balance gets thrown off. It was bad when I lived in Nashville, TN. I am in south FL now, and still feel it sometimes.

@ Manvertigo... I hope you get to feeling better soon. I hate those days spent in the bathroom.

Last month or two have been very out of control. Today is no different. Attacks several times a day.

Thanks for all your input. While it is not gone today, it is a LOT better than yesterday! Once the storm finally hit and moved on, so have the symptoms.

I live on the front range of the Rocky Mountains & the weather can can change drastically in only a couple of hours. As an example while hiking in the mountains you can got thru three different mini eco systems, but never given me problems.

I am still early in the MD & my symptoms are not severe yet, but the weather doesn't seem to affect me at all.

Maybe it's the pressure change in the atmosphere due to the weather systems, i hope it's to the weather. The best bet is to keep a medical journal & you will have better info if it's actually the weather or something else.
