Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Maybe there is a devise out there that could help control the level of noise, maybe there is an app?
God bless, great question!

That being said, I don't go to movies.
We had company for supper last night and afterwards we were playing yahtzee. I thought I was going to have to leave the table because of the sound of the dice shaking in the cup and hitting the table! It was awful... but I was too embarrassed to say anything or do anything because most people don't know I have MD. I've got a long way to go to stand up for myself!
And I lost.
Hope the movies work out for you. I wonder if anyone has advice for the visual stimulation.
God bless!

To keep out the noise, I turned to ear muff type protection, like rifle shooters wear. They come in different degrees of efectiveness, but you will probably want the ones that make it the quietest. Sporting goods stores have them and other stores also.
I went through a stretch where everything sounded the same: ocean waves, horn honking, dog barking, jets, road noise, it was all just noise, something like static on the radio. The "ear muffs" saved my sanity. But, I came through this stage, and hopefully, you will, too.
Good luck, and I hop you find something that works for you.
Great comments on ear muffs, I liked your descriptive on the sound blending. I am going through this right now as I loose more hearing. Word discernment is getting to be a bigger issue too. Really is strange how all these sounds blend and you cant pick things out very easily.
God bless!

I am so sorry about your comments on not being able to go to church. I feel in my heart that we live this life for only a flash on the grander scale of eternity with our Lord. Unfortunately in this life we must suffer and are faced with continual attacks from sin. The goal is always the same, to break you away from your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I would pray to find a way to continue your ministry with a open heart to serve the opportunities are boundless. Some examples would be to attend a alternative service that dose not have the music, or a service during the week (healing service for example), I would also consider ministering to those who are shut ins,(taking them communion or the word, whatever your religion allows). Just take a deep breath because non of this has to happen today, but give it some thought as this MD can change the course of your whole life and you need to find the ways you can get it back. One day at a time.
God bless!
