I am alone, swimming in a human ocean
I once swam these water without a care
Floating through life occasional finding someone in need
And pulling them up till they caught their breath
A hero of sorts, bringing life back to where the was none
Finding the trapped, the wounded and removing them from the peril
To them I was a hero, and to me it made me feel strong
And now as I am in peril, bobbing up and down for gasps of an existence
For a time I was screaming for help, a hand an explanation
Of why I am drowning yet never do
My eyes breaking the water to see a life line thrown to me as I submerge again
Yet when I resurface the one who threw me the line had been pulled under life himself
When adversity struck seeking attention in case this was the time I never resurfaced
But now I seek nothing, I motionlessly bob in the water knowing I will breath soon
Occasionally enjoying the feel of the warm sand against my back
Without a concern of resurfacing

I read between the lines of your message, and I'm reading, "May I be excused, please?" The answer is NO, you bloody well may not!
Well, let me qualify that. Listen, I know your symptoms are worse than mine, (though I happen to be in some bad sh*t just at this particular moment.) I know I'm not in a position to tell you what to do, I'll respect you no matter what you do, but if you're asking for an opinion, I want you around, damn it! I want your dark sense of humor, your wicked contempt for bad medical advice!
I know there comes a point when the pain is more than anyone can bear, you have no judgement from me or from us. I'd just rather you strangled the pain-- grabbed it by the throat, and beat it's head against the pavement. Not so crazy about this warm sand against the back idea.
We are still here, still listening.

We are screaming with you! And I second everything Cat said. I love your poetry, you say with such eloquence what we are all going through. You should publish all the ones you have written so far.
