Do they think it is Lupus? I have had quite a few of the discoid Lupus rashes some kinda scar and others go away. My dad had discoid lupus and his was not pretty so when I get a rash i crack out the cortisone cream and slather it on. There wasn't much to treat him with 40 years ago, just the plaquenil and I know the dr has put be back on it because it helps with the skin. This autoimmune shit stinks doesn't it!

That was the biopsy result it said Reticular erythematous mucinosis
Or poss lupus erythematous
That was the pathology report.
Don't really understand what that means but I faxed the report to my rheumy and they called me today and want to see me ????

I got a crazy rash on my chest and stomach last year that my DO couldn't diagnose. She ran blood work for Leukemia which thank goodness came back fine and wanted me to come back for a skin punch biospy a couple of weeks later. The cream she rx'd pretty much took care of it within a couple of days so I took a pass on the biopsy for fear of what they might find. The rash absolutely drove me nuts but I believe it was a chemical reaction. Please let us know what your rheumy has to say about it.

I looked this up. Not much info out there. It can be associated with Lupus, and there are some who feel this is a variant of a lupoid rash but there are others who say not. It can be treated with plaquenil but there are also laser treatments for it.
Could not find much else. Sorry.

I am already on Plaquenil and the rash is gone now but they did blood work and my ANA is positive again ugggg
