My face does the exact same thing. I call them my face fevers, but mine is cheeks and chin. I usually splash some cool water on my face and then put on some lotion. A cooling lotion works the best (Aloe gel or a cucumber lotion). I went to a dermatologist because my rheumy blew it off, and he said that I had rosacea. He gave me some cream for it (metrogel) and it has been a lot better since I have been using it. So, you could have rosacea or it could be just flushing from the mctd. If you look really close at your face can you see tiny blood vessels? If so, it is probably rosacea.

Yeah, sounds like that to me too. I get relief with daily sunscreen use. Used to use metrogel, and it worked, but daily sunscreen use also helps. there is also a sulfer lotion that works. If I can think of the name, I will post it. You can get it on line and in health food stores.

Yep, I've had that for years, too. Dermatologist told me it was rosacea and prescribed Noritate. It works ok, but then I found emu oil (found at most health food stores) worked even better and since I always try to stay as natural as possible I use that whenever I have a flareup. Certain foods really make me break out red.

@ klwfroggy Yup, tiny blood vessels and at times a rash, not butterfly's like they say you can get from lupus, they actually look like hearts with a line straight down the middle.

I've avoided the dermatologist up to this point and think with your info I know just what to do. I enjoy a tattoo or 2 and have a great cream that helps after a new tattoo and is all naturalish.lol. Aquaphor is its name, ive got it in my hand so im going to try it now. If it will help a new tat heal with out infection and help with the pain im excited to try it, if it doesnt work I wrote down all the other names. Right now its just an annoyance, id love for it to be a primary concern one day and I will be happy to go see another doctor, till then thanks for all the info

It is Margavite Cosmetics Zinc Cream for problem skin. You can get it at www.herbspro.com. My boss has had terrible rosacea and he swears by it! Says the Noritrate and metrogel doesnt work for him. I just use daily sunscreen.
