You're going to have periods of adjustment. Unfortunately, that's just part of it. I have never been of the belief that this thing was meant to be pain free, although, it pretty much has been for me. I usually am a little painful in the mornings. Especially my darn feet. But, once I get up and move around..that pretty much resolves.
I'm not familiar with your case...but, based on the amount of prednisone you're on, you're pretty newly diagnosed. It's going to be up and down. You'll have good days and bad days. Enjoy the good days and stay positive on the bad ones. DO NOT DWELL ON THE BAD ONES!!!!!!!!!! Take up a sedentary hobby...I did cross stitch to keep me occupied when I didn't have the energy or strength to get out and about. I did walk religiously though. That was very helpful.
Keep your chin up. It's not an exact science and you'll experience every emotion and feeling known to man.
Be well.
I am not on any pain meds, except the occasional celebrex.
I'm always a little stiff and sore in the mornings but it usually works itself out fairly quick
Good luck
