About 6 months ago, my rheumy told me to go see an ENT because I have really bad ringing in my ears and he wanted to make sure that I didn't have menieres. They determined that it wasn't menieres but that I have significant high frequency hearing loss. Then, about a month ago I went to my gp because I was having some dizzy spells that were coming and going. He said that I had severe inflammation in my ear and that it was possible that I had an ear infection but because of all of the inflammation it was hard to tell. Anyway, he gave me an antibiotic and some prednisone and it cleared right up. Then, two weeks ago I got strep throat from my kids, and of course was put on another antibiotic. Well, on Sunday, I started to get horribly dizzy and I thought that maybe it was low blood sugar because I hadn't eaten, but it did not go away after eating. I tried taking a meclizine, but it didn't help. I basically laid around all day hoping that it would be better in the morning. When it wasn't better, I made an appointment with the ENT who said that I have viral labyrinthitis which being caused by a virus is not treatable. He gave me some meds for the dizziness, but of course they don't helpp much. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has trouble like this with your ears. It seems like I've been dealing with an awful lot of inflammation in them lately and wondering if I have ai inner ear disease, or if this is just something that happens with mctd. Nothing I have read said anything about the ears. Any thoughts?
