CNN article, but come on people. You know it's true. When you stand there with the fridge door open, unable to find anything to eat, because "Oh, wow. I forgot to go to the store." The stuff messes with your brain, your ability to make good decisions. Been there done that, and I know the addictive power, couldn't imagine ever doing it again.
I just realized this was an old post that resurfaced, but most things remain the same through the years.
Best wishes to all. I've been through cigarettes, pot, cocaine, other psychodelics, and now I'm trying alcohol. I say trying, because fullmetal heart's question... "Why is it such a bad thing?" will always resonate. Addiction, compulsion, ground control... I think it's always a matter of the fight against something you know/think is not in your best interests vs. the satisfaction of knowing you were right and, and the intense sensation of being in control. The "feel good" for the moment always seems insignificant in the broader context.
