The AA book is sold at MA meetings, and it says something like
the belief that he could somehow control and enjoy his drinking is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker. Some pursue it into the gates of insanity or death.
I think that it is of course a good thing that your smoking is down to 5% of the original. If you are able to keep it down without exponentially increasing it - kudos to you. I couldn't do that. I have tried over and over and over. Sometimes these days - 8.5 months without weed, I fantasize that I'd be able to go back to 5% usage - but I know myself.
If your drug of choice is alcohol, and you are doing so well at abstaining from it, do you find it hard to get a weed buzz and not give in and then go directly for your buzz of choice (booze)?
I never was really into booze, but know that it can become a problem if I try to substitute alcohol for weed. I recently had some drinks - first time all year - and immediately I began hating alcohol and began acting like a spoiled brat, craving weed a million times more than normal. So, I just can't mess with this "other buzz". If you can, and you see that you can keep this 5% up without making it 100%, I suppose it is innocuous. But I don't know how it could be done, personally. Especially if one comes to crave that release at the end of the day, craving it all day - and then eventually finding ways to end the day earlier - or as I have done in the past, becoming a recluse whenever I don't absolutely have to be out in public.
For me...Weed and Alcohol have always been "two different animals". While I admit that I almost ALWAYS smoked weed when I drank...I smoked weed regularly LONG before I drank alcoholically and I don't get the craving for booze when I smoke. The craving for a Twinkie and bed...yes.. lol.
Thanks for all of your words and I promise that I will keep (semi) quiet, so as not to give any newbie a rationalization or permission. And if/when it becomes a problem...I will come back and share my trials and tribulations, so as to be of assistance to others.
Peace and Be well all.
